USDC transaction volume has surged 20-fold over the past 18 months, reaching 613 million transactions in January 2026, according to Dune Analytics data. This explosive growth is largely driven by Polygon and Base, which together handle 68% of all USDC transactions. Polygon has become the leading USDC chain, averaging over 12 million daily transactions, while Base processed $5.3 trillion in USDC volume in January. The increase in USDC activity is attributed to the low fees and fast settlement times offered by these networks, as well as their optimization for everyday financial workflows. Circle, the issuer of USDC, has expanded native support to 30 blockchains and enhanced its Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol, facilitating over $126 billion in seamless transfers. Partnerships with major financial entities like Visa, Stripe, and Shopify have further bolstered USDC's integration into traditional finance.
