US prosecutors have initiated a civil forfeiture lawsuit to recover approximately 327,800 USDT linked to a cryptocurrency scam on a dating app. The U.S. Attorney's Office in Boston alleges that the funds are connected to a "pig butchering" scheme targeting Massachusetts residents. The scam began in late 2024 when a victim was deceived by a suspect named "Linda Brown" into investing in a fraudulent cryptocurrency scheme. The victim transferred funds to wallets controlled by the suspect, only to discover the scam when withdrawal attempts failed. The stolen funds were laundered through multiple wallets and converted into USDT.
