It aims to determine if Bitmain's products could be remotely controlled for espionage or used to disrupt the U.S. power grid. Additionally, the investigation is examining possible tariff and import tax violations related to Bitmain's equipment. Bitmain has denied any wrongdoing, asserting that it complies with U.S. laws and regulations and dismissing claims of remote control capabilities as "absolutely unfounded." The company also stated it is unaware of any investigation named "Operation Red Sunset" and attributed past device inspections to routine checks by the Federal Communications Commission, which found no issues.
