The U.S. Department of Commerce has relaxed restrictions on the use of Anthropic PBC's Mythos 5 AI model by trusted partners, according to a letter released on Friday. This decision aims to resolve tensions between Anthropic and the U.S. government, which had previously banned the use of Mythos 5 and Fable 5 models by foreign nationals due to security concerns. The letter did not address any changes regarding the Fable 5 model. Benno Kass, a spokesperson for the Department of Commerce, emphasized the department's commitment to maintaining U.S. leadership in the global AI sector while ensuring national security. The move is part of a broader effort to balance technological advancement with security measures.
