U.S. Congressman Troy Downing is set to introduce the Retirement Investment Choice Act on Tuesday, aiming to formalize a Trump-era executive order that permits 401(k) retirement plans to invest in cryptocurrencies and private equity. The bill has garnered support from four Republican lawmakers: Byron Donalds, Buddy Carter, Warren Davidson, and Barry Moore. Previously, in August, Trump signed an executive order directing the Department of Labor, the SEC, and the Treasury to explore easing restrictions on alternative investments like crypto assets in retirement accounts.
