U.S. AI large models have surpassed Chinese counterparts in usage for the first time in nearly two months, according to OpenRouter data. During the week of April 13–19, U.S. AI models recorded a usage of 4.908 trillion tokens, marking a 20.62% increase from the previous week. In contrast, Chinese AI models saw a decline, with usage dropping to 4.441 trillion tokens, down 23.77% week-over-week. Despite the overall decline in global AI model usage, which totaled 20.6 trillion tokens, Chinese models still held significant positions among the top nine most-used models. DeepSeek V3.2 ranked second with 1.28 trillion tokens, while MiMo-V2-Pro saw a 90% increase, ranking fourth with 1.15 trillion tokens. Two models from MiniMax also featured in the top rankings, although MiniMax M2.7 experienced a 19% decrease in usage.
