Unity Software has introduced a free payments tool designed to help game developers avoid the 30% commission fees imposed by Apple and Google app stores. Announced on October 22, the tool takes advantage of recent legal and regulatory changes, such as the EU’s Digital Markets Act, to facilitate direct payments through third-party providers. Unity CEO Matt Bromberg highlighted that this tool aims to enhance developer profitability and control within the $120 billion global in-app purchase market. Analysts predict this could shift up to $4.1 billion in revenue from app stores directly to developers each year.
