Ukrainian prosecutors have transferred over 8.3 million USDT in seized crypto assets to the national asset management agency ARMA, marking the first instance of such a transfer. The assets were confiscated from a suspected member of an international hacking group involved in ransomware attacks across Europe and the U.S., which resulted in over $100 million in losses. The group allegedly laundered proceeds in Ukraine by purchasing real estate and vehicles.
Four suspects are currently detained, and the total frozen assets exceed $11.1 million, including real estate, vehicles, and approximately $1 million in cash. This transfer to ARMA is significant as it is the agency's first case involving digital assets since its 2025 reforms aimed at improving transparency in asset management.
