The UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has initiated legal action against cryptocurrency exchange HTX, alleging illegal promotion of crypto services to UK consumers. The FCA claims HTX violated financial promotion rules by publishing unauthorized content on its website and social media platforms, including TikTok, X, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. Despite prior warnings, HTX continued these activities, prompting the lawsuit. The FCA criticized HTX's opaque corporate structure and lack of responsiveness to communication attempts. Although HTX has restricted new user registrations, existing UK users can still access the promotional content. The FCA has urged social media platforms to block HTX accounts for UK users and requested the removal of the HTX app from Apple and Google App Stores in the UK. HTX remains on the FCA's warning list.
