The UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has announced the selection of four companies, including Revolut, to participate in its regulatory sandbox for testing stablecoin innovations. The chosen firms—Monee Financial Technologies, ReStabilise, Revolut, and VVTX—were selected from a pool of 20 applicants. Testing is set to commence in the first quarter of 2026, focusing on stablecoin issuance, payments, wholesale settlement, and crypto trading.
Matthew Long, FCA’s Director of Payments and Digital Assets, emphasized that the initiative aims to ensure the credibility of stablecoins in payments and settlements. The outcomes of these tests will influence the UK's final regulatory framework for stablecoins, expected to be unveiled later in 2026.
