Tsinghua University's NLP Lab and Mianbi Intelligence have open-sourced ForgeTrain, the first AI-coding pre-training framework, marking a significant advancement in AI development. ForgeTrain, entirely written by AI, outperforms NVIDIA's Megatron with a 10% speedup on Huawei Ascend hardware. It introduces the "Forge Engineering" paradigm, allowing AI to autonomously create specialized code for specific models and hardware.
The framework's first model, MiniCPM5-1B, features 1.08 billion parameters and ranks #1 on the Artificial Analysis leaderboard for small models. It supports various deployment formats and offers efficient long-context processing. Additionally, OpenBMB has released MiniCPM Desk Pet, an offline desktop app that enhances coding activities with real-time responses.
