Toss Payments, a South Korean payment company, has become the first in the country's financial and IT sectors to fully implement post-quantum cryptography. The company announced that its new system, which is now operational, secures payment data generation and transmission across key infrastructures such as data centers, cloud environments, and payment gateways. This system utilizes a hybrid key exchange scheme based on the NIST standard algorithm "ML-KEM," combining traditional elliptic curve encryption with post-quantum algorithms to address potential security threats posed by quantum computing.
