Threshold Network has temporarily suspended its Optimistic Minting process following an attempted attack on May 18. An attacker tried to mint tBTC without depositing the required Bitcoin, but the attempt was unsuccessful, and no invalid tBTC was created. User funds remain secure.
As a precautionary measure, minting will now be conducted through the sweeping mechanism, which extends the process time to approximately 6–7 hours. The network's security model relies on a decentralized signer network and a provable Bitcoin SPV proof to verify each native mint.
