Texas is set to move its $10 million Bitcoin reserve from the BlackRock iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) spot ETF to direct Bitcoin holdings. The state is currently seeking a custodian and liquidity provider to facilitate this transition, which is expected to be completed within 60 days of contract signing.
In conjunction with this move, the Office of the Texas Comptroller has established a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve Advisory Committee. This committee includes senior investment executives Laurie Dotter, Cormint Data Systems founder Jamie McAvity, Southern Methodist University law professor Carla Reyes, and CleanSpark president and CFO Gary Vecchiarelli. The committee will provide guidance on reserve custody arrangements, risk management, and disclosure practices.
