Tether has updated its transition plan for five legacy blockchains, including Omni Layer, Bitcoin Cash SLP, Kusama, EOS, and Algorand, as announced on August 29. Initially, Tether planned to stop redeeming and freezing USDT tokens on these blockchains from September 1, 2025. However, following community feedback, Tether will not freeze smart contracts on these networks.
While users can still transfer tokens between wallets, Tether will cease direct issuance and redemption of tokens on these blockchains, marking a shift in official support. Tether emphasizes its commitment to a smooth transition, ensuring transparency and clarity in collaboration with the community.
