Tether has invested $20 million in Argentine digital bank Ualá, contributing to a $197 million funding round announced in March. Ualá, which boasts 11 million customers and a post-money valuation of $3.2 billion, plans to use the funds to expand its operations in Argentina, Mexico, and Colombia.
Despite Tether's investment, Ualá founder and CEO Pierpaolo Barbieri stated that the USDT stablecoin will not be integrated into the platform in the near term due to regulatory constraints in Argentina and Mexico. Tether's involvement is strictly as a financial investor, supporting Ualá's growth ambitions in the Latin American market.
