Cronos lending protocol Tectonic disclosed details of its August 30 attack, saying the attacker manipulated the TONIC price by about 195 times and used recursive collateral to borrow approximately $120.4 million across nine lending markets.
After Cronos paused the network and restored the state, most assets returned to their pre-attack positions. About $9.19 million had been transferred cross-chain and remains unrecovered. Tectonic plans to phase out low-liquidity collateral and introduce market borrowing caps.
