Tajikistan has amended its Criminal Code to impose criminal penalties on the illegal use of electricity for cryptocurrency mining. The new regulations, reported by Asia-Plus, stipulate fines between 15,000 and 75,000 Somoni or imprisonment for two to eight years for violators. This marks a significant regulatory shift as cryptocurrencies previously existed in a legal gray area in the country.
