Several Swiss financial institutions, including UBS, Sygnum, PostFinance, Raiffeisen, Zürcher Kantonalbank, BCV, and Swiss Stablecoin AG, have initiated a regulated Swiss franc stablecoin sandbox. This initiative aims to establish a national digital settlement layer. The sandbox operates in a controlled real-world environment with transaction limits and participation restrictions. It will run until the end of 2026, with plans to open to more institutions. The project seeks to support the development of Switzerland's digital currency ecosystem, gain blockchain payment operational experience, and derive insights from practical applications.
