The Strait of Hormuz, a critical global energy transport route, has experienced a significant reduction in vessel traffic due to ongoing tensions between the U.S., Israel, and Iran. Since March 1, only 77 ships have navigated the strait, a stark contrast to the 1,229 vessels recorded during the same period last year. According to maritime data from Lloyd's List, most of the vessels currently passing through are aging ships with inadequate insurance and unclear ownership, often part of "shadow fleets" that evade Western sanctions. This development highlights the impact of geopolitical conflicts on international shipping and energy supply chains.
