Standard Economics has secured $9 million in seed funding to launch its cross-border payments app, "Uno." The funding round was led by Paradigm, with participation from Lightspeed and several angel investors. Co-founded by Evan Jones, Payam Abedi, and Tyler Carnevale, the company aims to facilitate cross-border remittances and US dollar access using stablecoins.
"Uno" has launched in Mexico, offering domestic payments and zero-fee cross-border transfers. The app plans to expand to Argentina, the Philippines, and other countries in Latin America and Asia. Despite having six employees, Standard Economics has yet to generate revenue.
