The Bitcoin Layer-2 network Stacks has successfully implemented its SIP-034 upgrade on the mainnet, significantly boosting network processing capacity for certain DeFi applications. This upgrade optimizes transaction processing by resetting only exhausted individual resource limits, rather than all limits, potentially increasing capacity by up to 30 times.
Alex Huth, Product Lead at Stacks Labs, highlighted that the upgrade will particularly benefit complex and read-intensive DeFi applications, such as concentrated liquidity and advanced automated market maker (AMM) designs. While the upgrade does not directly impact STX tokenomics, it is anticipated to drive increased transaction volume and fees as network activity expands.
