A recent survey by the Korea Communications Commission (KCC) highlights significant concern among South Korean teens and adults regarding AI-driven cyberbullying. Conducted between September and November last year, the survey involved 9,296 middle and high school students and 7,521 adults aged 19 to 69. It found that 89.4% of adolescents and 87.6% of adults view AI-driven cyberbullying, particularly involving deepfake videos and misinformation, as a serious issue.
The survey also revealed that 42.3% of adolescents experienced cyberbullying in 2025, a slight decrease from the previous year, while 15.8% of adults reported being victims, marking an increase. Strangers were identified as the main perpetrators, with text messages and social media being the primary channels for such abuse.
