Sonic Labs has launched USSD, a network-native U.S. dollar stablecoin, designed to provide permissionless, zero-fee USD access with institutional-grade backing. Built on Frax’s GENIUS-compatible frxUSD infrastructure, USSD offers cross-chain minting and redemption, enhancing liquidity for trading, lending, and treasury operations across more than ten networks. The stablecoin is fully backed 1:1 by high-quality USD assets from institutions like BlackRock, Superstate, and WisdomTree.
USSD aims to centralize dollar liquidity within the Sonic ecosystem, boosting market efficiency and ecosystem growth. The stablecoin's yield from backing assets is reinvested into Sonic, supporting buybacks and on-chain incentives. With its cross-chain flexibility and zero-fee minting, USSD is positioned to redefine native stablecoins, currently live on Sonic, Ethereum, Base, Arbitrum, and other networks.
