A solo bitcoin miner has achieved a remarkable feat by earning approximately $200,000 using a Bitaxe, a small, hobbyist-grade mining device. The miner successfully mined Bitcoin block number 957,382, receiving 3.1382 BTC. This achievement was made possible with a modest setup running at an average hash rate of 995 GH/s, or about 1 terahash per second, over just eight hours through the Public Pool service. The Bitaxe, an open-source, credit-card-sized ASIC miner, is powered by the Bitmain BM1370 chip, similar to those in large-scale Antminer S21 machines. Despite its small size, the Bitaxe Gamma version can produce 1 to 1.3 TH/s while consuming only 15-21 watts of power, and is available for $60 to $150. This marks the second instance of a Bitaxe solo-mining a block on Public Pool, highlighting the potential for significant returns from minimal investments in solo mining.
