Solana is set to significantly reduce the cost of account creation on its network, potentially by 10x, according to Anza VP Brennan Watt. Speaking at Solana Breakpoint, Watt highlighted proposal SIMD-0389, which could further cut costs by up to 100x. This initiative aims to activate billions of idle SOL while maintaining network security, offering a new approach to managing storage costs in Proof of Stake networks. This move marks a departure from traditional Proof of Work models, where such cost adjustments are less frequent.
