A sophisticated phishing attack on the Solana blockchain has resulted in the theft of over $3 million by manipulating the owner permissions of victims' wallets, according to a report by SlowMist. The cybersecurity firm revealed that a user reported abnormal authorization records in their Solana wallet, which led to the unauthorized transfer of account owner privileges to an address starting with "GKJBEL". This breach prevented the user from revoking permissions or transferring funds, leaving their assets vulnerable.
The attack, reminiscent of "malicious multi-signature" incidents in the TRON ecosystem, allowed the attacker to control the wallet without traditional authorization theft. Although the user initially lost over $3 million, an additional $2 million held in DeFi protocols was successfully recovered with the help of relevant platforms. This incident highlights the evolving tactics of attackers in the crypto space, emphasizing the need for enhanced security measures.
