Solana has introduced the x402 batch payment feature via PayAI Network and BlockRunAI, enabling AI agents to settle USDC transactions in bulk. The system allows multiple off-chain authorizations through a USDC-backed payment channel before combining them into a single on-chain settlement, targeting high-frequency payments for data, computing power, and API calls. BlockRunAI has already integrated the feature into its AI model routing service, which connects over 113 models through a single interface. The company reports that batch settlement reduces latency by approximately 10x and saves more than $20,000 in monthly network fees by eliminating the need for separate on-chain transactions for each request.
