The switch was made due to the superior performance of the Qwen model in handling regional languages like Indonesian, Thai, and Malay, which are crucial for localized AI applications. The newly released "Qwen-SEA-LION-v4" by AISG has achieved the top rank in Southeast Asian language proficiency. The Qwen series has been downloaded over 600 million times globally, underscoring its widespread adoption and effectiveness.
