Seven leading Bitcoin mining pools, including AntPool, Block Inc., F2Pool, Foundry, MARA Foundation, SpiderPool, and DMND, have joined the Stratum V2 working group. This collaborative effort aims to overhaul the communication protocol used by mining pools to coordinate with individual miners. Stratum V2 introduces end-to-end encryption and allows miners to construct their own block templates, enhancing security and operational efficiency. The working group, initially founded by Braiins and Spiral, Block Inc.'s Bitcoin development arm, now represents a significant portion of global Bitcoin mining capacity. The protocol's improvements could lead to up to 7.4% higher profitability for miners. This transition is particularly impactful for publicly traded mining companies like Marathon Digital, as it could enhance operational margins significantly.
