Seoul National University Hospital has received its first donation in the form of digital assets, as a 78-year-old investor, Mr. Kim, donated one Bitcoin, valued at approximately 157 million Korean won. The hospital plans to convert the Bitcoin into fiat currency following government guidelines and allocate it to its development fund. Mr. Kim described Bitcoin as a "new donation tool in line with the times" and expressed hope for the spread of digital asset donation culture.
Earlier this year, Mr. Kim also donated one Bitcoin each to the Korean Red Cross and the Seoul Social Welfare Foundation, bringing his total donations to over 1 billion Korean won.
