Sei has announced its Giga upgrade roadmap, aiming to significantly boost blockchain performance with a target of 200,000 transactions per second (TPS) and 400ms finality. The upgrade involves a comprehensive redesign of Sei's execution client, state management, and consensus mechanism. Key components include the Ares execution client for improved pipelined execution, the Eidos state management upgrade replacing Merkle trees with a flat key-value store, and the Autobahn consensus mechanism, which has already achieved 5 Gigagas processing capacity in internal tests.
Additionally, the roadmap outlines the introduction of Sedna private mempool for encrypted transaction propagation and a shift towards an EVM-only architecture, gradually phasing out the Cosmos SDK and CosmWasm. These upgrades are expected to enhance Sei's transaction processing capabilities and overall network efficiency.
