Sei Network has disabled the import of IBC assets as part of its transition to an EVM-only architecture, according to an announcement by Sei Labs on May 13. The move follows a community proposal and is part of the Sei v6.4 upgrade, which introduced mechanisms to phase out IBC asset transfers. Wallet holders are advised to bridge and withdraw their IBC assets promptly, as the network plans to disable export functions in the future. This strategic shift marks Sei's gradual departure from the Cosmos IBC ecosystem, aligning its infrastructure more closely with Ethereum's EVM standards. Users previously received airdrop notifications to encourage timely asset bridging or exchanges, underscoring the network's commitment to its new architectural direction.
