The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) announced on December 31 that it has initiated a review process for a proposed rule change submitted by the Chicago Board Options Exchange (Cboe). The proposal seeks to adjust the minimum price increment for Cboe Mini Bitcoin U.S. ETF Index (MBTX) options. Contracts priced below $3 would have a minimum increment of $0.01, while those priced at $3 or above would have a $0.05 increment.
The SEC will evaluate whether the proposal aligns with the Securities Exchange Act's requirements to prevent manipulation, promote fair trading, and protect investors. The commission is also seeking public comments on the proposal, with a submission deadline set for January 21, 2026.
