The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) are planning to relocate to the same office complex in Washington, D.C., according to sources. This move, however, is not intended as a merger of the two regulatory bodies, which oversee different financial markets.
Discussions have been ongoing since last year to move the CFTC into the building complex currently housing the SEC, located near Union Station and close to the U.S. Capitol. The General Services Administration (GSA) is involved in the planning, with the relocation not expected to occur before 2027.
