Greek maritime risk management firm Marisks has issued a warning about scammers impersonating Iranian authorities to extort cryptocurrency payments from shipping companies. The fraudsters are demanding Bitcoin (BTC) or Tether (USDT) as a 'passage fee' for ships navigating the Strait of Hormuz. Marisks emphasized that this is a scam and suspects that at least one vessel, which was fired upon on April 18 while attempting to exit the strait, may have fallen victim to this scheme.
