SBI Holdings has partnered with Visa to introduce crypto reward credit cards in Japan, allowing users to earn Bitcoin, Ethereum, and XRP through everyday spending. The new SBI Visa Crypto Card and SBI Visa Crypto Card Gold, launched on May 1, automatically convert reward points into cryptocurrency, integrating digital assets into daily financial transactions. At a press conference, SBI VC Trade President Tomohiko Kondo highlighted the cards' potential to help users accumulate volatile assets like cryptocurrencies gradually. The cards offer monthly conversion of reward points into selected cryptocurrencies without exchange fees, requiring an SBI VC Trade account for rewards. The Gold card provides higher rewards and additional benefits, while a promotional bonus is available for applications made in May. The inclusion of XRP is particularly notable, given Japan's strong market for the cryptocurrency and SBI's significant stake in Ripple. This launch, alongside other recent crypto payment initiatives in Japan, underscores the growing integration of digital currencies into the country's financial ecosystem.
