SBI Securities and Rakuten Securities are preparing to introduce cryptocurrency investment trust products, pending regulatory approval. SBI Securities plans to develop these funds through its subsidiary, SBI Global Asset Management, focusing on highly liquid cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum. Meanwhile, Rakuten Securities aims to collaborate with its group companies to offer products accessible via a smartphone app. Japan's Financial Services Agency is expected to amend the Investment Trust Law by 2028, allowing cryptocurrencies as eligible assets for investment trusts and reducing the capital gains tax rate to 20%. This regulatory change will pave the way for these new investment products.
