FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF) has accused the Biden administration of political persecution, according to a statement shared on his GETTR account and forwarded by his X account. SBF claims that his political stance shifted from center-left in 2020 to centrist by 2022, leading him to privately donate tens of millions to the Republican Party. He alleges that the Biden administration's SEC and Department of Justice targeted him shortly after, arresting him just before a cryptocurrency bill he supported was to be voted on and before he was scheduled to testify in Congress. House Republicans have suggested the arrest was intended to prevent his testimony and have demanded SEC Chair Gary Gensler provide internal communications regarding the timing of the prosecution, which Gensler reportedly lost.
