Sablier Labs has announced a halt to active product development, shifting to maintenance mode until June 2028. The on-chain token distribution protocol will maintain existing user services, with smart contracts continuing to operate on-chain and the interface transitioning to an open-source public good. Founder Paul Razvan Berg cited a significant drop in usage and revenue in Q1 2026, attributing it to adverse crypto market conditions and the impact of AI-assisted coding reducing replication costs. Despite exploring new directions such as lock-up NFTs and custom Rollups, Sablier Labs found no viable venture-scale opportunities in the on-chain token distribution sector. The company has preemptively transitioned its core smart contracts from the BUSL license to GPL, achieving full open-sourcing ahead of schedule.
