Russia’s three major telecom operators — MTS, Rostelecom and Megafon — said they will begin accepting digital ruble payments from September 1. MTS said digital ruble payments will be supported for all services in its MTS Pay module without category restrictions. Rostelecom will initially support one-time payments on its website, with personal accounts to follow later, while recurring payments and automatic top-ups will be added once the central bank platform is ready. Megafon said the digital ruble will be offered as an additional payment method. Two major e-commerce platforms, Wildberries and Ozon, also said they will enable digital ruble payments on the same day. Under the law, all large Russian enterprises must be able to process digital ruble transactions starting September 1, and the apps of 12 systemically important banks must include a digital ruble wallet entry. The central bank plans to limit digital wallet top-ups to no more than 300,000 rubles per month through a single bank.
