Russian prosecutors are moving to confiscate nearly $30 million in assets from Georgy Satyukov, a former investigator implicated in a cryptocurrency bribery scandal linked to the defunct WEX exchange. Satyukov is accused of accepting $184 million in Bitcoin and $30 million in Ethereum as bribes from WEX operators. Authorities have identified $29.6 million in assets, including luxury properties and vehicles, allegedly purchased with illicit funds.
The investigation revealed Satyukov used the bribes to acquire 13 apartments in Russia, a villa in the UAE, and other high-value properties. Additionally, luxury items such as Porsche cars and Patek Philippe watches were found in his possession. The bribes reportedly came from Alexey Ivanov, a former WEX administrator, to avoid criminal charges. Satyukov and his colleague Dmitry Sokolov remain fugitives, with a Moscow court set to try them in absentia. If convicted, their assets may be seized by the state.
