Russia's Finance Minister Anton Siluanov announced on October 21 that the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank of Russia have agreed to legalize the use of cryptocurrencies in international trade. This move will be accompanied by the development of legislative regulations. Siluanov highlighted the significant role of crypto assets in cross-border payments and fund transfers, and emphasized the need for enhanced regulatory oversight in collaboration with financial regulators. The Foreign Exchange Industry Association previously estimated that Russian citizens and businesses hold over 2.5 trillion rubles in digital assets.
