Runlayer, a startup focused on enhancing security for the Model Context Protocol (MCP), has secured $11 million in seed funding. The round was led by Keith Rabois of Khosla Ventures and Felicis. Founded by Andrew Berman, Runlayer has developed a comprehensive security platform that integrates gateway protection, threat detection, observability, and enterprise developer tools to address MCP's security gaps. The company has also formed strategic partnerships with eight unicorn or publicly traded companies, including Gusto and Instacart, to bolster its platform's adoption. Additionally, Runlayer has brought on David Soria Parra, the founder of MCP, as a consultant to further strengthen its expertise in securing the protocol, which is utilized by major tech firms like OpenAI and Google.
