Router Protocol will gradually cease operations and fully shut down before September 30, 2026, ending more than four years of development. The team cited scarce Web3 liquidity, a market shift toward AI, cooling interest in cross-chain interoperability, and bridge revenue that failed to cover costs. The project said attempts over the past year to pursue commercialization, licensing, and acquisition did not produce a sustainable path. Router Protocol will permanently burn 303,333,198 pending ROUTE tokens in its treasury and coordinate with centralized exchanges to delist ROUTE, with holders required to withdraw tokens under each exchange’s deadline. The team will not launch new ROUTE-related plans and intends to open-source some technical components for community use.
