David Schwartz, the Chief Technology Officer (Emeritus) of Ripple Labs, shared insights into the early development of the XRP Ledger and its future AI applications during the XRP Las Vegas event held from April 30 to May 1. Schwartz, one of the original architects of the XRP Ledger, recounted its creation in 2011 alongside Jed McCaleb and Arthur Britto, aiming to improve upon Bitcoin's limitations with a sustainable digital asset for payments. The XRP Ledger officially launched in June 2012, followed by the founding of Ripple later that year. At the event, Schwartz introduced a novel concept involving artificial intelligence to enhance the XRP Ledger's social credit features. This idea focuses on establishing trusted asset lines among users, leveraging AI to facilitate these connections. Additionally, Chandler Fang, co-founder of t54ai, discussed the integration of AI agents on the XRP Ledger, highlighting the need for trust layers to enable agent-native transactions. This development aims to expand the functionality of AI agents beyond recommendations to include actions such as managing balances and settling tasks.
