Ripple has added support for the Machine Payment Protocol (MPP) and Open Wallet Standard in version 1.1 of the XRP Ledger AI Starter Kit, enabling AI agents to use XRP and RLUSD for online services like data and computing power. MPP was jointly developed by Stripe and Tempo, with RippleX product lead Jazzi Cooper stating the integration aims to establish XRP and RLUSD as first-class options for developers. The software remains in the testing phase, and no commercial clients or payment volumes using the MPP integration have been disclosed. This update follows Ripple's previous support for the x402 standard in June; however, the stablecoin currently supports only one-time payments, and integrating payment channels requires a ledger upgrade.
