Ripple has announced a partnership with Project Eleven to enhance the quantum security of the XRP Ledger (XRPL). This collaboration aims to deploy quantum-safe solutions, starting with a comprehensive audit of XRPL's validator nodes, custody systems, network layer, and wallets. The initiative will focus on identifying vulnerabilities that could be exploited by quantum computing advancements. The partnership plans to introduce a hybrid signature scheme that integrates current encryption standards with quantum-resistant mechanisms, facilitating a gradual transition. Additionally, a prototype for a quantum-secure custodial wallet will be developed, targeting practical applications. Ripple's recent assessment indicates that nearly 300,000 XRPL accounts, holding about 2.4 billion XRP, are secure, with only two inactive accounts flagged for potential risk. This proactive approach aligns with broader industry efforts to phase out vulnerable cryptographic schemes by 2035.
