Ripple has partnered with Kyobo Life Insurance to pilot a blockchain-based settlement system for government bonds in South Korea. Utilizing Ripple Custody, the initiative aims to streamline bond issuance, settlement, and storage, potentially reducing settlement times from two days to near real-time. This move could enhance capital efficiency and reduce counterparty risk in traditional bond markets. Ripple also plans to expand this project into broader tokenized treasury operations within South Korea's financial ecosystem. In a separate development, the XRP Ledger has integrated with Boundless to enhance transaction privacy using zero-knowledge technology. This upgrade allows sensitive transaction details to remain hidden while still complying with regulatory requirements, potentially unlocking new institutional use cases. Meanwhile, Tether has launched a multi-asset self-custody wallet, tether.wallet, supporting assets like USDT and Bitcoin. The wallet offers users full control over their funds and simplifies transactions by allowing fees to be paid in the transferred asset, along with introducing human-readable usernames.
