Ripple developers are preparing a long-term upgrade roadmap for the XRP Ledger to guard against future quantum computing risks that could break current cryptographic systems and expose private keys. The four-stage plan starts with identifying which parts of the network are vulnerable and testing quantum-resistant cryptographic alternatives under existing blockchain workloads. Later phases would run current security systems in parallel with new quantum-resistant methods before shifting the entire network to the upgraded framework. Ripple also said it is designing a contingency response in case quantum computing advances faster than expected, aiming to stop attackers from exploiting legacy cryptography.
